The pillows are designed from original paintings that depict the seasons. The leaf prints are monotypes I created from a leaf I drew with Elmer's glue that provided me with a raised surface that made great prints! First I painted the leaf in acrylic in colors I thought depicted the associated season on watercolor paper. Once they dried I inked up the monotype plate, registered it loosely face down with the painted leaf and used a brayer as my "press". So FUN!
You can see the collection I designed in two color ways on my website in the geometric category.
These were created during my "Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design" class I took last spring. The assignment was to take the humble check and elevate it to a special pattern. I think they look young and fresh.
