On Valentines Day we joined the group gathered together at Haller Fountain to participate in the dance for the 1Billion Rising event. 1Billion Rising is a revolution to end violence against women and girls around the world. Some of my fellow Zumba class dancers and I were in the 15 minute flash mob and this video was taken by my husband Don. Learn more here www.onebillionrising.org and to enjoy more dancing around the world this is the link on their website www.onebillionrising.org/livestream. It felt good to join in and stand up for something so important and it was FUN!

Exciting News! I have my first design on fabric printed by Spoonflower. The design originated from a painting I did for my friend and her new house (first image). I decided to create a collection from the painting and named it Poppy Ribbons. For the main design I created a layered pattern with colorful scratch marks, the foliage in white, with the poppies in a new configuration as the top layer. I had it printed on Organic Cotton Sateen (second image). It was my friend's birthday so I sewed her a pillow out of the fabric (third image). I'm no seamstress but what satisfaction seeing my design on fabric.

On my bike ride to an art lecture on a Sunday this fall I couldn't help but stop and photograph these trees. I can visualize a men's plaid shirt or a striking group of pillows in this palette. That's the thing now that I have been taking the "Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design" modules. I see pattern possibilities everywhere!
